Energy Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have discussed cooperation issues

The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting of the energy and water ministers from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on 12 October.

The event was attended by Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhodov, Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan Shavkat Khamraev, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almastad Satkaliev, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan Nurzhan Nurzhigitov and Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Taalaibek Ibraev. Kamal Abbasov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, also attended the meeting as a guest.

The focus was on the issues of ensuring the stable operation of the water and energy systems of the countries in the autumn-winter period. The ministers agreed on schedules of grid operation and discussed jointly implemented projects, including the current state of construction of HPP-1 Kambarata. The participants also considered issues of harmonising the water and energy balance.

In addition, the meeting discussed preliminary studies and plans for an HPP construction on the Chatkal River in Jalal-Abad oblast of the Kyrgyz Republic with representatives of the CEEC Chinese company.

At the end of the meeting, it was proposed to organise regular working group meetings and sign a roadmap for the project implementation, which will strengthen cooperation between the countries in energy and water resources.
