Ministry of Labour and UNDP expand support for vulnerable groups in Kyrgyzstan

The Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration reported on the implementation of programmes aimed at supporting the population, especially the most vulnerable groups.

In collaboration with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), 63 projects aimed at providing emergency assistance to low-income families through a ‘cash for work (training)’ scheme were successfully implemented.

These initiatives involved 896 low-income families, or more than 4,700 people. Under the projects, citizens received more than 11.9 million KGS in cash payments to support their socio-economic situation.

This programme is being implemented under a renewed memorandum of understanding between the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration and the United Nations World Food Programme, which aims to implement the strategic plan for 2023-2027 and provides for support to socially vulnerable groups, food security, adaptation of the population to climate change and capacity building of state bodies.
