Ministry of Justice suspends operations of 50 companies due to sanctions risks

The Ministry of Justice of Kyrgyzstan has, for the first time, decided to simultaneously suspend the operations of 50 legal entities involved in transactions carrying heightened sanctions risks. This was announced by the ministry.

The decision was taken as part of a new inter-agency mechanism to identify unscrupulous participants in foreign economic activity. This refers to the inter-agency order ‘On inter-agency cooperation to identify unscrupulous participants in foreign economic activity and transactions involving heightened sanctions risks’.

As clarified by the Ministry of Justice, the list of companies was provided by the Ministry of Economy and Trade of Kyrgyzstan in conjunction with other state bodies. The basis for this was information regarding possible attempts to circumvent restrictions linked to the international sanctions regime.

The ministry noted that the measures are aimed at protecting the national economy and reducing the risks of secondary sanctions being imposed on Kyrgyzstan by Western partners.

The mechanism adopted allows for the termination of legal entities’ activities through a simplified procedure, based on a relevant submission from state bodies and a decision by the Cabinet of Ministers.
