As of today, according to the district agrarian development departments, 139 thousand 69 hectares of grasslands are degraded and subject to improvement.
In order to reduce degradation of pasture lands, improve grasslands and increase their productivity, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry issued an order recommending to introduce restrictions on grazing on spring pastures every year from 15 April to 15 September.
The main purpose of this measure is to reduce degraded pastures by improving them, to preserve natural ecosystems, to increase the productivity of livestock products, and to treat state-owned pastures with care.
Recently, pasture users have been using pastures on a regular basis every year, using pastures on the roadsides and communications, and distant pastures are not fully utilised. The local authority should take this order into account when approving the pasture management plan.
