12/02/2024, 16:26Last week, from November 25 to 29, commercial banks of the Kyrgyz Republic purchased $160 mln at currency trades. Such conclusions can be made according to the statistics of trades, presented by the NBKR.
Most of the currency, $81.8 mln, commercial banks bought with settlements different from the date of the transaction. Another $78.2 mln was purchased with settlements on the date of the deal.
National Bank of KR was the largest seller of currency last week. On November 25, on the background of dollar growth against som, the regulator came out with the tenth currency intervention on the interbank market. As a result, it sold $92 million 250 thousand. At the moment, the National Bank has not intervened on the interbank market.
At the same time, two days in a row - November 27 and 28, large sales of the U.S. dollar were observed in the interbank market. In particular, November 27, $28.2 million was sold on the interbank market, while the next day - another $26.9 million.
Usually, without the National Bank's participation, the volume of currency sales at interbank trading remains relatively low. However, recent activity on the market may indicate the appearance of a large seller. For example, the transactions, conducted on November 27 and 28, became the largest for the current year. In terms of volume, they are second only to 16 transactions, previously made at the trades with the direct participation of the National Bank, which acted as either a buyer or a seller of currency.
