First Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev and Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Sultan Akhmatov took part in a meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, where key issues on the Union's integration agenda were discussed.
New decisions of the EEC Council:
- Technical regulations. The requirements of the technical regulation ‘On the safety of perfumery and cosmetic products’ have been updated to bring them into line with European Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009. This should protect the EAEU market from prohibited products and simplify import and export procedures.
- Light industry. Amendments have been made to the technical regulation ‘On the safety of light industry products’, which unify certification and declaration schemes in accordance with the Council's model decisions No. 44.
- Standardisation. The coordination procedure has been revised: planning now takes into account the results of the mandatory assessment of the scientific and technical level of technical regulations, and duplication in the development of standards is eliminated.
- Pharmaceuticals. The rules for the registration and examination of medicinal products have been clarified, which eliminates the uncertainty of the transition period and allows for the extension of national registration certificates.
- Intellectual property. A draft agreement on the creation of a unified search service for industrial property objects in the EAEU countries has been approved. It will provide businesses, rights holders and government agencies with access to information on a ‘single window’ basis.
- Science and innovation. The Council supported the EAEU's strategic programme for scientific and technological development, which includes an initiative by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to establish centres of excellence and expand joint research and development projects.
The implementation of the Strategic Directions for Integration Development until 2025 and proposals to extend the mechanism of financial support for cooperative projects to the agro-industrial complex and its infrastructure were discussed separately.
