Tushoo kesuu (cutting the cord) is one of the most ancient Kyrgyz rituals, which is still popular today. This ritual is performed when a child makes its first attempts to walk independently. Since ancient times, it has been believed that parents must perform this ritual so that the child can stand firmly on their feet and their future path will be happy and successful.
The main motif of the coin is an image of a child taking its first independent steps with its shackles cut off. To the left of the child are its parents, and to the right are a yurt and children running in a race dedicated to the ritual of cutting the shackles. At the top of the coin is the inscription ‘Tushoo kesuu’. On the left side, the metal grade (Ag 925) and weight of the coin (28.28 g) are indicated, and on the right side, the denomination of the coin, ‘10 som’, is indicated.
The reverse side of the coin features the coat of arms of the Kyrgyz Republic framed by an image of ropes, at the top of which is a stylised image of a winged boy in a cap, standing firmly and confidently on his feet. The inscription «Kyrgyz urp-adatary zhana yrym-zhyrimdary» (Kyrgyz customs and rituals) is located around the circumference of the coin. The year of issue (2025) is indicated at the bottom.
The «Tushoo kesuu» collector coin has the status of official legal tender in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Each collector coin is placed in an acrylic capsule and packaged in a separate case with a certificate of quality.
