The National Bank sold more than $202 million on the foreign exchange market

On September 4, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan conducted another foreign exchange intervention, during which it sold $202.7 million. This is according to data from the regulator.

According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, of this amount, $20.9 million was from transactions settled on the trade date, while another $181.8 million was from transactions settled on a date other than the trade date. 

The intervention on September 4 marked the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic’s eleventh foreign exchange operation involving the sale of dollars since the beginning of the year. The previous one took place on August 10, when the regulator sold $196.2 million. Prior to that, interventions occurred on July 14, June 29, June 8, April 16, March 30, March 10, February 26, and February 6.

In total, from the beginning of 2026 through September 4, the National Bank sold $1 billion 871.5 million on the foreign exchange market.

By comparison, throughout all of 2025, the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan conducted interventions to sell foreign currency totaling $853 million. Thus, the regulator’s currency sales over the first nine months of 2026 have already exceeded the total for all of 2025 by a factor of 2.2.

Meanwhile, the official dollar exchange rate on September 4 was 87.4488 KGS, compared to 87.45 KGS the previous day.
