09/30/2024, 17:44As part of digitalization and automation of power supply, JSC “National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan” has successfully completed the installation of “smart” meters in 10 regional power grids (RES) throughout the country. This is reported by the press service of NESK.
Among the 100% completed areas are Karakol, Tyup, Cholpon-Ata, Naryn, Kochkor, Tien-Shan RENs, power supply companies of Jalal-Abad and Osh cities, Gorset of Talas city, as well as Uch-Korgon section. In Batken city the work is 50% complete.
In total, about 448.5 thousand “smart” meters were installed in the republic, of which 120 thousand were installed in 2024. These “smart” meters allow automating electricity supply processes, including remote data collection, billing, disconnection of subscribers for arrears and reconnection after payment. The system also allows control of unauthorized tampering of meters.
The use of online payment and connections via mobile applications and terminals helps consumers save time by eliminating the need to stand in queues. Payments through mobile wallets and terminals continue to grow in the electricity payment structure.
The introduction of smart meters is also accompanied by the rehabilitation of power grids and equipment, which has led to a significant reduction in the number of emergency outages, which is positively assessed by consumers.
In the near future it is planned to install additional 650 thousand metering devices throughout the country, which will make the system more efficient for both consumers and the company.
