08/01/2025, 13:25As part of participation in the Tenth Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the SCO Member States, held in Kunming, China, a bilateral meeting was held between the First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, and the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare of India, Sanjay Kumar Agarwal.
During the meeting, the prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector were discussed, including the exchange of proposals on sanitary and phytosanitary requirements, which is an important step towards ensuring safe and sustainable trade.
The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in increasing exports of beans, honey, rice and meat products to India, as well as imports of Indian bananas and citrus fruits.
In addition, cooperation between the Department of Organic Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan and the Indian Association of Microorganism Manufacturers and Farmers (AMMA) within the framework of the signed memorandum of cooperation in the field of organic agriculture was noted.
The meeting was an important step towards deepening the mutually beneficial partnership between Kyrgyzstan and India, as well as strengthening cooperation within the SCO in the field of agriculture and food security.
