05/03/2025, 20:15Today, May 3, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov held a meeting with Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, in Cholpon-Ata.
The parties discussed issues related to the development of virtual assets and blockchain technologies in Kyrgyzstan, as well as cybersecurity and the fight against digital threats.
Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is taking serious steps to introduce digital assets. He focused on the work being done to launch a digital som. A law on this was signed recently.
In turn, Zhang Peng said he's ready to work together on digital assets, especially to get advice from Kyrgyzstan experts on introducing a digital national currency and training programs for specialists.
At the end of the meeting, the head of state expressed confidence that the joint efforts of the parties would turn Kyrgyzstan and the entire region into a center of digital transformation.
Sadyr Zhaparov also presented Binance founder Changpeng Zhao with a certificate of public advisor to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on issues related to the development of digital assets.
For reference: Changpeng Zhao, better known as CZ, is a Chinese-Canadian entrepreneur. In 2017, he founded Binance, which quickly became the industry leader in terms of trading volume, liquidity, and number of users. In 2020, Binance launched Binance Smart Chain (BSC), a blockchain with support for smart contracts. The network was later renamed BNB (Build and Build) Chain. Changpeng Zhao promoted the idea of a scalable, fast, and inexpensive blockchain infrastructure that does not depend on Binance itself as a centralized company. BNB Chain has become the foundation for numerous blockchain projects.
