From shopping malls to parks: how Bishkek residents’ leisure activities are changing

This spring, Bishkek residents have been spending significantly more time in parks and public squares. This is evidenced by data from the 2GIS mapping service, which analyzed user activity from March to May 2024 and 2025.

The ranking of popular locations is based on two metrics: the number of views of location cards and the number of routes created. Both indicators show a growing interest in urban public spaces.

Yntymak Park became the most popular location: in the spring of 2025, the number of views of its profile exceeded 75,000, which is three times higher than the figure from the previous year. Kemal Atatürk Park also showed significant growth—its popularity increased by 162%. Panfilov Park, traditionally considered one of the central recreational areas, also demonstrated steady growth, with interest rising by 52%.

One of the fastest-growing attractions was Karagacheva Grove—the number of views increased nearly fivefold. Baitik Baatyra Park also made it into the top five, establishing itself as a new destination for city residents.

Other popular locations included the Kyrgyzstan-Azerbaijan Friendship Park, the E.Z. Gareev Botanical Garden, the D. Asanov Victory Park, Adinay Park, and the Chingiz Aitmatov Oak Park.

Analysis shows that Bishkek residents have begun to use digital services more actively to plan their leisure time. The number of routes to parks in the top ten increased by an average of 2.5–3 times. This indicates growing demand for outdoor recreation and the increasing role of urban green spaces in the structure of daily consumption.
