Payment systems in Kyrgyzstan have become more reliable, with the number of failures halved

Over the course of the year, the payment infrastructure became significantly more stable. According to the regulator, in the first quarter of 2025, only 65 irregularities were recorded in the work of payment system operators, compared to 149 cases in the same period of 2024.

This decrease of more than 56% reflects positive dynamics in ensuring the reliability of digital financial channels.

According to the report, the availability rate of payment systems remains at 99.93%, despite ongoing isolated disruptions.

Technical failures in the Unified Interbank Processing Centre (EMPC) remained insignificant, at only 0.07% for the quarter.

At the same time, the structure of failures has changed. While in 2024 the main cause of abnormal situations was failures on the part of service providers (64.4%), in 2025 their share decreased to 46.15%. At the same time, the number of incidents related to hardware and software problems increased to 29.23%. The share of communication channel failures was 13.85% and power outages accounted for 10.77%.

Despite this, as noted in the NCB report, none of the incidents recorded resulted in financial losses or had a negative impact on other participants in the payment market.
