An inspector from the Chamber of Accounts has been detained on suspicion of extortion

An inspector of the Chamber of Accounts has been detained on suspicion of extortion. This was reported by the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The State Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Jalal-Abad region, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle corruption in the Chamber of Accounts of the Kyrgyz Republic, has established that in May this year, a state inspector of the Chamber of Accounts, ‘I.M.A.’, conducted a scheduled audit of the financial and economic activities of the Kanyush-Kiy Ayyl Okmotu of the Chatkal District for 2024, during which he received 800,000 soms from Ayyl Okmotu employees for concealing the violations identified through extortion.

In turn, the employees of the Kanyush-Kiy Ayil Okmotu received the money from a contractor in the form of a 10% kickback for awarding the contract for the construction of a social facility.
