At the end of last year, 15,278 electric vehicles were registered in the country

As of January 1 this year, the total number of registered vehicles in the republic was 1,909,961. Compared to 2024 (1,697,100 cars), the figure increased by 13%.

The structure of registered vehicles is as follows:

  • 972,252 — gasoline-powered cars (51%);
  • 57,310 — gas-powered cars (3%);
  • 339,938 diesel cars (18%);
  • 56,997 cars with gas-petrol engines (3%);
  • 37,295 hybrid cars (2%);
  • the rest are other types of transport.

As of the end of 2025, there were 15,278 electric vehicles registered in the republic, accounting for 0.8% of the total number of vehicles. It is worth noting the steady growth dynamics in recent years:

  • 2022 — 1,113 electric vehicles;
  • 2023 — 2,310 electric vehicles;
  • 2024 — 3,122 electric vehicles;
  • 2025 — 9,870 electric vehicles.

There is also a trend towards renewing the vehicle fleet. While in 2024 the share of cars less than 5 years old was 1.5%, in 2025 this figure reached 4.5% of the total number of registered vehicles.

Currently, in collaboration with the National Investment Fund, there are plans to launch a “Green Taxi” project in the city of Bishkek. The parties are currently discussing the mechanisms for implementing the project and its potential opportunities.

More than 100 electric charging stations have been installed in Bishkek, which contributes to the development of infrastructure for environmentally friendly transport and stimulates the growth of the number of electric vehicles.

The development of environmentally friendly transport is an important step towards protecting the environment, improving air quality, and ensuring sustainable urban development. Work in this area will continue on a systematic basis.
