The relevant decree was signed by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov on 8 October.
If a car changes ownership during the insurance contract, the new owner is eligible to apply to the insurer to re-register the policy in his/her name. If the contract terms are changed, which may increase the insurance premium, the new owner is obliged to pay only the difference between the previous and new insurance premiums.
However, it is important to note that it is still not allowed to change the vehicle specified in the policy or the insurance terms change.
In addition, the decree establishes that when re-registering vehicles, it is no longer required to submit a compulsory civil liability insurance contract (insurance policy) to the authorised bodies.
