09/25/2024, 07:23The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved Russia's proposal to introduce unified labelling rules for biologically active food supplements (BAA) in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The new rules will apply to all products with a certificate of state registration for dietary supplements.
According to the decision, EAEU member countries will be able to independently set the terms and stages of the labelling introduction on their territories, and they are obliged to notify the EEC at least six months before the start of the process. All identification systems introduced by one of the member states will be recognized by other members, which will set uniform standards for the circulation of dietary supplements in the entire EAEU market.
Vahagn Ghazaryan, Director of the EEC Department of Customs-Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation, emphasized that this initiative will increase the transparency of the dietary supplements market and ensure consumer protection.
“Digital labelling will allow buyers to check the product authenticity and receive reliable information about its composition and properties,” he noted.
This decision is designed to strengthen control over a sensitive category of goods, such as dietary supplements, and guarantee their legal and safe circulation in the territory of the Union.
