06/23/2025, 13:39On June 18–19, a round table was held in Bishkek dedicated to the implementation of one of the country's key energy projects, the Kambarata HPP-1.
The event was attended by representatives of relevant Kyrgyz government agencies, delegations from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, World Bank experts, and international consultants.
Deputy Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlan Sadykov noted that the materials presented were the result of extensive preparatory work and reflected the high international standards to which the project complies.
During the meeting, Swiss engineering company AFRY presented a feasibility study (FS) including important engineering solutions, seismic risk data, and hydrological characteristics. These calculations will form the basis for the sustainable implementation of the project.
At the same time, the international company SMEC, responsible for environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA), presented documentation aimed at minimizing risks and protecting ecosystems. Particular attention is paid to biodiversity conservation and the rational use of local pastures.
According to participants, the Kambaratinskaya HPP-1 complies with sustainable development principles, and the project's implementation is accompanied by consultations with local communities and stakeholders, which ensures transparency and strengthens public trust.
The World Bank has confirmed its readiness to continue its comprehensive support, including further updating of project documentation and assistance in developing a sustainable implementation model.
The Kambarata HPP-1 is considered a strategically important project that will strengthen the energy security of Kyrgyzstan and the region, as well as improve the efficient use of water resources in Central Asia.
