Kyrgyzstan introduces temporary restrictions on coal prices

On 1 October, a decision to introduce temporary state regulation of coal prices will come into force in Kyrgyzstan. The restriction will be in place for 90 calendar days, with maximum prices set for this type of fuel.

The measure is being introduced in accordance with the law on pricing and the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution on state regulation of prices for socially significant goods. The order was signed by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.

The Antimonopoly Regulation Service is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the decision. The agency will set maximum prices and monitor their compliance in the market.

The temporary restriction has been introduced ahead of the heating season and is aimed at keeping the market situation under control, preventing speculative increases in the cost of coal and ensuring its availability to the population.

The order is valid for three months, but may be extended depending on the situation on the solid fuel market.
