President Sadyr Zhaparov made this announcement on October 5 at the official opening of the “Bishkek Arena” stadium.
The president responded to criticism from those who believed that funds for the stadium’s construction should have been directed toward the creation of manufacturing enterprises.
“People said it would have been better to build a plant or factory. My response is: 521 plants and factories have been built. In addition, there are stadiums,” said Japarov.
According to the head of state, “Bishkek Arena” has become one of 1,075 facilities built in the country during this period. The president also announced plans to continue building social infrastructure. Specifically, 111 schools and 44 district hospital wards are scheduled to be built by 2027.
Speaking about economic development, Sadyr Zhaparov called stability a necessary condition for further growth and emphasized the importance of continuing the fight against corruption and crime.
“The most important things are peace, unity, and harmony. If we have them, our economy will continue to grow,” he stated.
The official opening of “Bishkek Arena” was accompanied by a large-scale, free entertainment program. The stadium had already hosted a major international event: on August 31, it hosted the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, which drew nearly 30,000 spectators.
The arena can accommodate more than 50,000 spectators. In the future, it is planned to host major sporting and cultural events there. One of the upcoming events is a concert by Colombian singer Shakira, scheduled for October 18. This will be her first performance in Kyrgyzstan.
