09/17/2024, 12:53President Sadyr Zhaparov met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Astana on September 17 as part of his working visit to Kazakhstan, the President's website reports.
During the meeting, they discussed pressing issues of the Kyrgyz-German agenda in political, trade economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. President Zhaparov noted that Kyrgyzstan highly appreciates the established friendly relations with Germany, which is one of the important partners of the country in the European Union.
He expressed satisfaction with the intensification of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the successful official visit of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Kyrgyzstan last year. The President pointed out the importance of developing economic ties with Germany and noted the gradual growth of trade turnover between the two countries.
Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that one of the Kyrgyz main tasks is to attract foreign investment and strengthen international cooperation. Germany is an important partner in this area. Kyrgyzstan highly appreciates the experience and knowledge that German companies can bring to the country and is ready to provide favourable conditions for German investors, including various benefits and investor rights protection.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed his gratitude to Mr. Sadyr Zhaparov for the opportunity to meet with him and voiced his interest in continuing the development of bilateral relations with Kyrgyzstan. Recalling President Zhaparov's visit to Berlin last year, he noted that it demonstrated active cooperation between the countries on concrete issues.
Scholz also emphasized that there are many areas for deepening cooperation, highlighting as one of the most pressing topics the problem of migration of specialists from Kyrgyzstan to Germany, which is of great interest to German enterprises.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to pursue to strengthen and develop Kyrgyz-German relations in all spheres of mutual interest.
