03/14/2025, 13:11The Kyrgyz government has approved new rules for schools. These rules, called the State Educational Standard, will help make school education better and more modern. The main goal is for children to receive quality knowledge that will be useful in their lives, and to be able to compete with students from other countries.
Now schools will focus more on not only knowledge, but also the ability to apply it. For example, children will learn to think critically, work in teams, solve complex problems and respect nature. Schools will also develop patriotism, respect for their culture and traditions, and teach children to be responsible and kind.
The curriculum is divided into three stages: primary school (grades 1-6), basic school (grades 7-9) and high school (grades 10-12). In upper grades, pupils will be able to choose subjects that interest them and that will help prepare them for their future profession.
No grades will be given in the lower grades (grades 1-3). Instead, teachers will give feedback to help children learn better. Regular grades will be introduced from grade 4, and in the upper grades, not only knowledge but also the ability to apply it in practice will be taken into account.
The new standards will help children be better prepared for life in the modern world. They will learn not only to memorise information, but also to think, analyse, work with other people and solve real problems. This is important so that school graduates can successfully build their lives and help develop the country.
The new rules will come into effect 10 days after they are officially published. The Ministry of Education will ensure that schools implement these changes.
