Demand for dollars from commercial banks in foreign exchange trading nearly doubled

The total volume of transactions on Kyrgyzstan’s interbank foreign exchange market reached $13.1 million on August 20. Compared to the previous trading session, this figure more than doubled.

According to data from the National Bank, same-day settlement transactions totaled $7.4 million, while transactions with settlement on a different date totaled $5.7 million.

The previous day, the total trading volume was $6.4 million. Thus, over the course of a single trading session, it increased by $6.7 million, or 104.7%.

This increase followed three consecutive declines.

On August 20, the dollar exchange rate stood at 87.45 KGS at both the opening and closing of trading. In the previous session, trading closed at 87.445 KGS per dollar.
