Insurers in Kyrgyzstan collected 5.6 billion KGS in premiums

In the first half of 2026, the volume of insurance premiums in Kyrgyzstan reached 5 billion 553.4 million KGS. Compared with January–June of last year, premiums increased by 1 billion 591.5 million KGS, or by 40.2 per cent.

A year earlier, insurers collected 3 billion 961.9 million KGS, whilst in the first half of 2024 the figure stood at 1 billion 907.9 million KGS. Thus, according to information from the Financial Supervisory Authority, the volume of premiums has increased 2.9-fold over two years.

More than three-quarters of the premiums were attributable to voluntary insurance – 4,196.1 million KGS. Property insurance emerged as the largest segment, generating 2,422 million KGS, or 43.6 per cent of all premiums in the market.

In second place was personal insurance, with a volume of 1 billion 465.7 million KGS and a share of 26.4 per cent. Voluntary liability insurance generated 308.2 million KGS. Meanwhile, life insurance remains a small segment, with premiums totalling just 100,000 KGS.

Compulsory insurance accounted for 1,286.8 million KGS, or 23.2 per cent of total premiums. The bulk of this revenue came from compulsory motor third-party liability insurance (CMTPL) – 784.9 million KGS. This represents approximately 61 per cent of premiums for compulsory insurance types.

A further 309.6 million KGS was generated from compulsory employers’ liability insurance for harm to the life and health of employees, whilst 126.4 million KGS came from home insurance against fire and natural disasters.

Insurance based on Islamic principles – takaful – is highlighted separately in the accounts. Premiums in this sector totalled 70.5 million KGS for the half-year.
