08/29/2026, 12:39By 2031, the average monthly wage in Kyrgyzstan is set to reach 80,146.4 KGS. However, its real growth – that is, the increase in purchasing power after taking inflation into account – is forecast to average just 2.1 per cent per year.
This figure is set out in the Ministry of Finance’s forecast up to 2031.
By way of comparison, according to preliminary data from the National Statistics Committee, the average nominal wage (excluding small enterprises) stood at 53,759 KGS in January–June 2026. Thus, the forecast figure for 2031 is approximately 26,400 KGS, or 49 per cent, higher than the current level.
However, this does not imply a commensurate increase in workers’ well-being. In monetary terms, wages may rise by almost one and a half times, but taking price rises into account, the real average annual growth is expected to be 2.1 per cent.
Furthermore, this refers to the national average wage. This figure combines the incomes of workers across different sectors and regions and does not imply that by 2031 every working Kyrgyz citizen will be earning more than 80,000 KGS.
Alongside wages, the government expects growth in the population’s total monetary income. By 2031, this is set to reach 3 trillion 187.3 billion KGS, with real growth forecast at an average of 9.5 per cent per year.
Per capita GDP is set to rise from $4,079.2 in 2027 to $6,812.5 in 2031. Growth over the four-year period could amount to 67 per cent.
At the same time, the cost of the minimum basket of essential goods and services will also rise. The cost of the minimum subsistence level is forecast to stand at 10,455.9 KGS in 2027 and 13,437.9 KGS in 2031 – an increase of 28.5 per cent.
Kyrgyzstan’s population is expected to grow by an average of 150,700 people per year over the medium term. The number of people in employment is expected to rise by approximately 3.4 per cent per year.
