Three out of every four cars in Kyrgyzstan are over 15 years old

Almost 75 per cent of passenger cars registered in Kyrgyzstan have been in use for more than 15 years. As at 1 July 2026, 1,123,500 cars fell into this age category.

In total, there were 1,503,811 passenger cars registered in Kyrgyzstan. The proportion of cars over 15 years old stood at 74.7 per cent.

There were 96,200 cars under five years old, accounting for just 6.4 per cent of the total. A further 221,200 vehicles, or 14.7 per cent, were between five and ten years old, whilst 62,900, or 4.2 per cent, were between ten and 15 years old.

Thus, the total number of vehicles no older than 15 years stood at 380,300. There are almost three times as many cars in the country older than this as there are in all other age categories combined.

The highest proportion of older cars was recorded among minivans: 96.8 thousand out of 104.5 thousand registered vehicles, or 92.6 per cent, have been in use for more than 15 years.

Among hatchbacks, 242,200 vehicles, or 84.3 per cent, fall into this age category. In the saloon segment, 523,000 out of 672,900 vehicles – 77.7 per cent – were over 15 years old. Among estate cars, their share stood at 58.8 per cent, or nearly 246,000 vehicles.

The structure of the country’s vehicle fleet indicates a slow renewal of passenger cars and continuing high demand for repairs and spare parts.
