Trinidad and Tobago Is Ready to Help Kyrgyzstan Gain Access to Maritime Transport Routes

Kyrgyzstan and Trinidad and Tobago discussed expanding cooperation in trade, energy, and the economy. Trinidad and Tobago also expressed its readiness to help Kyrgyzstan expand its access to maritime transport routes.

This was agreed upon on September 22 by President Sadyr Japarov and Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar at a meeting in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

The parties also discussed cooperation in the fields of renewable energy and cultural and humanitarian affairs. Zaparov noted Kyrgyzstan’s interest in expanding ties with countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Separately, the parties agreed to cooperate within the UN Security Council. Kyrgyzstan expressed its readiness to cooperate with Trinidad and Tobago following its election as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for 2027–2028.

The parties also reaffirmed their intention to develop bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
