Poverty levels in Kyrgyzstan continue to decline

In 2024, the overall poverty level fell to 25.7%, and the extreme poverty level fell to 2.7%.

According to recent data from the National Statistics Committee, the poverty line per capita per year rose from 35,268 KGS in 2020 to 65,417 KGS in 2024, and the extreme poverty line per capita per year rose from 19,774 KGS to 41,349 KGS, respectively.

The overall poverty rate decreased from 29.8% in 2023 to 25.7% in 2024, and the extreme poverty rate decreased from 5.0% to 2.7%.

The situation among age groups is as follows:

  • Children aged 0–17 — 33.1% (down from 36.7% in 2023)
  • Young people aged 14–28 — 22.0% (down from 27.8%)
  • Working-age population — 21.7% (down from 26.9%)
  • Pensioners — 18.2% (down from 19.9%)
