In the Batken region, an attempt was made to smuggle goods worth 15 million KGS into the country

Employees of the State Agency for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Batken region have uncovered and prevented an attempt at smuggling in the Batken region. The illegal movement of goods was carried out through undisguised sections of the state border, which is a gross violation of the border regime and customs control legislation.

According to preliminary information, a group of individuals attempted to transport consumer goods, bypassing official checkpoints and customs procedures of the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan.

As a result of operational and investigative measures, the individuals involved in the scheme, who are citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, were detained, and vehicles and goods worth more than 15 million KGS were seized. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated.
Investigative actions are continuing, and all participants in the illegal scheme are being identified.
