09/09/2026, 16:04The total outstanding debt on loans from commercial banks in Kyrgyzstan reached 602.6 billion KGS at the end of April–June this year. Over the past year, this figure has risen by 44.6 per cent, or 186 billion KGS.
By way of comparison, at the end of the corresponding period in 2025, outstanding loans stood at 416.6 billion KGS. In the last three months alone, it increased by 11.6 per cent — from 540.1 billion KGS at the end of the first quarter.
More than half of the total loan portfolio is concentrated in Bishkek. By the end of June, the capital’s borrowers’ debt had reached 342.2 billion KGS. This accounts for 56.8 per cent of the total volume. Over the year, this figure rose by 60.1 per cent, or 128.4 billion KGS. Thus, Bishkek accounted for almost 70 per cent of the annual growth in the loan portfolio.
In the regions, the largest volume of debt was recorded in the Osh region — 70.9 billion KGS. This was followed by the Jalal-Abad region with 56.8 billion KGS and the Chui region with 40.4 billion KGS.
On an annual basis, lending increased in all regions of the country. After Bishkek, the highest growth rates were recorded in the Naryn region (36.1 per cent), the Talas region (34.4 per cent), the Jalal-Abad region (29.8 per cent) and the Issyk-Kul region (29.6 per cent).
The lowest growth rate was recorded in the Batken Region, although even there the volume of outstanding loans increased by 23.4 per cent to 20.1 billion KGS.
It should be noted that these figures refer to the outstanding loan balance at the end of the period, rather than the volume of new loans issued during the quarter.
