11/06/2024, 09:11Bishkek hosted the signing of a memorandum on the Turkic Council on Green Finance establishment, which will unite the efforts of member countries of the Organisation of Turkic States to promote sustainable finance.
The document was signed on behalf of Kyrgyzstan by Aida Chodulova, Acting President of the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange. Azerbaijan was represented by the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan Taleh Kazimov, Kazakhstan - the manager of the International Financial Centre ‘Astana’ Renat Bekturov, Uzbekistan - Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyer Saidov, and Turkey - Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan.
The Council will advise member countries on green and sustainable finance development and ESG investments (environmental, social and governance aspects), as well as assist in developing strategies, reporting for listed companies, attracting investment and building a portfolio of projects for sustainable finance. The Council is also planning to organise regional ESG forums and training sessions.
The participants in the memorandum emphasised their commitment to sustainable development, the goals of the UN and the Paris Agreement, achieving carbon neutrality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and agreed on the need for a unified approach to attracting investment for a sustainable economy.
