EAEU reaches new agreement on transport masses and dimensions

The Deputy Heads of Government of the Eurasian Economic Union signed an important Agreement on permissible weights, axle loads and dimensions of vehicles.

The Agreement covers movement on motorways that are part of Eurasian transport corridors and eliminates one of the main problems in the Union's domestic market: inconsistency in requirements for weight and dimensional parameters of vehicles.

Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, stressed that by increasing the minimum permissible weight values and establishing uniform requirements, it was possible to harmonise national regulations for trucks. Now carriers will not need to obtain a special permit, which was previously required in countries with stricter restrictions.

This decision is aimed at improving transport connectivity in the EAEU and increasing the efficiency of interstate transport along Eurasian transport corridors.
