In Kyrgyzstan's cities, there are 20 pupils per teacher

In Kyrgyzstan, at the beginning of the 2024–2025 academic year, there will be an average of 16 pupils per teacher in secondary general education day schools.

However, the actual workload varies greatly depending on where the teacher works.

The situation is particularly tense in urban schools. One teacher is responsible for an average of 20 pupils. In rural schools, this figure is lower, at around 15 pupils per teacher. This is due to the uneven distribution of teachers between urban and rural areas. Today, there are about 94,000 teachers working in Kyrgyzstan, of which more than 33,000 are in cities and more than 60,000 are in rural areas.

At the same time, the level of teacher training in the republic is considered high. About 87% of school teachers have a higher education.
