Disease-related deaths are on the rise in Kyrgyzstan

According to the results of January-November 2024, Kyrgyzstan registered an increase in the number of deaths from diseases by 955 people compared to the same period last year. The main cause of mortality remains diseases of the circulatory system, which account for 52% of all cases.

In 2024, 15 thousand 454 people died from these diseases, which is 430 cases more than last year. This points to the need to strengthen prevention programmes and investments in health care.

Cancer remains in second place among the causes of mortality (14%). The number of deaths from cancer increased by 343 cases, reaching 4 thousand 69 people. This underlines the importance of early diagnosis programmes and modernisation of medical infrastructure.

The 10% decrease in deaths from external causes (1 thousand 912 cases) is a positive trend, but the number of deaths from transport injuries increased by 30% (772 cases). This can be attributed to the increase in road traffic and requires additional road safety measures.

Infant mortality decreased by 5.1%, but the increase in the number of deaths from congenital malformations by 36.2% (252 cases) indicates the need to improve perinatal care and diagnosis.
