Only 14% of drivers in Kyrgyzstan have obtained OSAGO

As of today, only 14% of drivers in Kyrgyzstan have obtained an OSAGO insurance policy. This is extremely low, considering that there are 1.6 million registered vehicles in the country.

Currently, having insurance is mandatory, but there are no fines for driving without it. However, starting from July 1, 2025, this will change – drivers without OSAGO will begin to face fines.

When asked about a possible postponement of the deadline, the Financial Supervision Authority stated that this decision is up to the Cabinet of Ministers, and there are currently no plans for a delay.

This means that drivers have just over four months to obtain OSAGO and avoid penalties.
