12/17/2024, 14:41Today, December 17, at the meeting of the Committee on Transport was considered and approved in the first reading of the bill “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic on the legal status of the national digital currency in the Kyrgyz Republic - digital som”.
The purpose of the bill is to launch a pilot project of the national digital currency, a prototype of the “digital som”, as well as to create a legal framework for its operation and determination of its legal status.During the discussion, the deputies raised questions about the benefits of
using digital currency and its testing, as well as clarified the term “digital som”. Deputies Eldar Abakirov and Bahridin Shabazov expressed concern about transactions using the digital som, emphasizing the importance of ensuring access to financial services and payment opportunities even in the absence of the Internet.
