In Kyrgyzstan, the sugar beet harvest could reach 710,000 tonnes despite a reduction in the area sown

The sugar beet harvest is continuing in Kyrgyzstan. In 2026, the crop was sown across an area of 11,800 hectares, which is 11.9 per cent less than the previous year.

However, despite the reduction in the area sown, a significant increase in the harvest is expected. According to preliminary forecasts, the country could produce 700,000–710,000 tonnes of sugar beet this year.

By way of comparison, in 2025, 538,900 tonnes of sugar beet were harvested from an area of 13,400 hectares, with an average yield of 401.9 centners per hectare.

In 2026, the average yield is forecast to reach 600 centners per hectare. Thus, despite a smaller area under cultivation, the harvest may be approximately 30 per cent higher than last year.

To date, 4,100 hectares have been harvested, representing 34.7 per cent of the total area under cultivation.

The increase in yield is attributed to favourable weather conditions and the timely implementation of agricultural practices. The expected volume of raw materials should provide domestic sugar factories with the necessary stocks for sugar production and reduce the domestic market’s dependence on external supplies.
