At the end of the year, the Tugol-Sai BSR will be put into operation in the Naryn region

Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, inspected the construction of the Tugol-Sai daily regulation reservoir in the Zhumgal district of the Naryn region.

Previously, the river had experienced water shortages despite the large area of irrigated land, which made it impossible to provide the necessary amount of water during the growing season.

In response, the ministry planned to build a DSR that will allow water to be stored in the autumn and winter and minimise losses in the future.

Construction work began in 2023, and the facility is scheduled to be commissioned in December of this year.

After the launch of the BSR, water supply to 3,208 hectares of existing irrigated land will improve, and an additional 1,602 hectares of new land will be brought into production. A twofold increase in crop yields is expected, as well as a solution to the problem of irrigation water shortages for residents of the Tugol-Sai ayil-aimak in the Zhugmal district, which will significantly improve their living conditions.

During his working trip to the Naryn region, Bakyt Torobaev also visited the Orto-Tokoy reservoir, where he familiarised himself with the current volume of accumulated water.
The relevant officials have been instructed to ensure that the local population is continuously supplied with irrigation water throughout the growing season.
