12/31/2024, 14:57At Uch-Kurgan HPP, the renewed hydro unit No. 4 was launched. This was an important event for the energy sector of the country.
The ceremony took place on December 30, 2024. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adyl Kasymaliev gave the start of the new unit in the online format. The event was also attended by Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibrayev and General Director of JSC “Electric Power Plants” S. Sadyrakunov.
The main goal of the reconstruction is to increase the capacity of the station and improve its efficiency. Thanks to the renovation, the capacity of Uch-Kurgan HPP increased by 20%, which will help produce more electricity and strengthen the country's energy security.
The work started in March 2024 and was carried out by the Chinese company CNEEC. In 2025, it is planned to reconstruct hydro unit No. 3. After completion of all stages of modernization, the service life of the plant will increase by 25-30 years.
Uch-Kurgan HPP is the first hydroelectric power plant in Naryn oblast, built back in 1962. Before the renovation, the capacity of the plant was 180 MW. This is the first large-scale repair for more than 60 years of operation.
Renovation of the HPP is a significant step for the Kyrgyz energy system, especially in the context of growing demand for electricity.
