Construction has begun on a major transport interchange in Osh

Construction has begun in Osh on a major transport interchange at the ‘Dostuk’ roundabout. The project is being carried out at the junction of Zhusueva, Kurmanzhan Datka, Kasymbekov and Osmonov Streets.

The mayor of the city, Zhanarbek Akayev, gave the go-ahead for construction.
The project involves the construction of a transport interchange, four ramps, eight staircases and an underground pedestrian underpass. There are also plans to build roundabouts to improve traffic flow.

The total area of the project will be 6,603 square metres. The underground pedestrian underpass will cover an area of 1,622 square metres and have a diameter of 100 metres.
Construction will be funded from the local budget. Work is scheduled to be completed within a year.

According to the city council, the project aims to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and enhance pedestrian safety.
