Pumpkin processing is being developed in Talas

Rustam Baltabaev, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and the Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, visited the KVS agricultural co-operative during a working trip to the Talas Region, where he familiarised himself with the enterprise’s processing operations.

During the visit, particular attention was paid to the processing of pumpkin pulp, which remains after the seeds have been removed. Instead of disposing of this raw material, the enterprise has established the production of finished goods – soups and powdered mixes – which significantly improves the efficiency of harvest utilisation and creates additional added value.

The finished products are already being sold through the specialist shop ‘One Village – One Product’ in Bishkek. This approach contributes to the development of the processing sector and the expansion of the range of domestic food products.

In addition to processing, the KVS cooperative is one of the country’s leading enterprises in the field of seed production. The company exports pumpkin seeds to Japan and is working to develop new international partnerships.

During the meeting, discussions centred on attracting investment and technological partners to further expand processing capacity, introduce modern technologies and bring products to new foreign markets.

Rustam Baltabaev noted that the development of agricultural raw material processing is one of the key areas for increasing the country’s export potential. According to him, enterprises that not only produce raw materials but also manufacture finished products with high added value make a significant contribution to achieving the target of increasing exports of domestic products by 2030.
