High sugar beet yields have led to queues at collection points in Chui Oblast

High sugar beet yields have resulted in queues at reception points in Chui oblast. This was reported in the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry. Farmers are expected to harvest about 900,000 tonnes of sugar beet this year, which has caused overloading of receiving points, which accept up to 18,000 tonnes of raw material per day. This exceeds the daily capacity of the plants by 2-3 times and has led to queues.

As of today, 300,000 tonnes of the crop have already been delivered - the highest indicator in recent years. Additional difficulties are caused by the fact that many farmers are harvesting simultaneously.

In addition, some batches of beetroot do not meet the purity and sugar content standards. Despite this, the penalty for low sugar levels has been reduced from 20 % to 10 %. Prices for the 2025 crop will be determined according to sugar content and payment terms remain the same: 30 % in cash and 70 % in kind (sugar).

From 2025, a beet delivery schedule agreed with the aiyl okmotu will be introduced to avoid queues. In case of problems, they will be solved locally with the participation of a commission including representatives of the plant and local authorities. The plants assured that the entire crop will be accepted without losses.
