The session was attended by representatives of government agencies, tourism organisations, companies and operators from the Eurasian Economic Union countries, as well as Cuba, Uzbekistan and Iran.
The participants discussed key tourism development issues and the exchange of experience between business circles on the implementation of tasks facing the states and the Eurasian integration union. The attendees noted the high importance of realising the potential of the Union for tourism development in the EAEU countries.
"Tourism is one of the most highly profitable and dynamically developing sectors of world economy. It accounts for about 10 per cent of global GDP, more than 7 per cent of global investment and every tenth job. Given the geographical proximity of the EAEU states, cooperation in this sector can become a catalyst for economic growth, an important factor in creating jobs and developing entrepreneurship,’ Bakhyt Sultanov, Minister for Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission stressed.
The session considered some issues relevant to the tourism industry, including the formation of Eurasian tourist routes, the improvement in the quality of tourism services and the development of tourism development concept. These and other issues are included in the Strategy for Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025.
