Kyrgyz Minister of Energy Meets JICA Vice President Kinematic in Tokyo to Discuss Strategic Energy Projects

Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev met with JICA Senior Vice President Kenichi Kawamura. The parties discussed cooperation in the energy sector, including the construction of the Kyrgyzstan NES Training Centre with a JICA grant of 1.5 billion yen (approximately $10.3 million).

They also discussed the modernisation of the Kurpsai Hydroelectric Power Plant, where systems are already being replaced at a cost of 3 billion yen ($20 million). Kyrgyzstan is ready to continue joint reconstruction with a possible 20% increase in the station's capacity.

Ibraev invited the Japanese side to participate in the construction of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1, emphasising the importance of partnership with JICA in green energy and sustainable development.
