Why was the deputy mayor of Bishkek detained: the version of the State Committee for National Security

The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported the detention of the deputy mayor of Bishkek, identified as “Y.Z.S.” According to the agency, since 2020, the official had been illegally using a municipal land plot of about 1,500 square meters in the Tunguch microdistrict for personal purposes.

Four commercial pavilions and about five children's attractions were installed on the territory without permits. According to the investigation, the deputy mayor facilitated their installation and patronized the business, which caused damage to the local budget of almost KGS 3 million in lost rental income. In addition, the illegal seizure of land prevented the construction of a park and a playground, causing discontent among residents.

As part of the investigation, Y.Z.S. himself and another citizen, V.N.A., were detained. The illegal structures were dismantled, and construction of a children's area has begun on the site. The investigation is ongoing.
