Former head of the monitoring and information systems department of the State Tax Service detained for bribery

The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, as part of its efforts to combat corruption in the State Tax Service, uncovered systematic bribery by the former head of the monitoring and information systems department of the State Tax Service, S.K.A.

It was established that S.K.A., taking advantage of his official position, organised a stable corruption scheme for the illegal collection of funds from importers of sunflower oil for their unhindered passage through customs checkpoints operating on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

For facilitating unhindered imports, S.K.A. received funds from responsible persons of one of the LLCs — $20,000 and about 1 million KGS.

Currently, relevant investigative and operational measures are being taken against other participants in the corruption scheme with a view to their further detention and criminal prosecution.
