09/01/2025, 15:21Starting today, September 1, the law “On Compulsory Civil Liability Insurance for Motor Vehicle Owners” (OSAGO) comes into full force. This was announced by the State Security Service.
Now every vehicle owner is required to have a valid OSAGO policy. In case of its absence, drivers will be subject to penalties from the GUOBDD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic:
These measures are aimed at ensuring road safety and protecting the rights of citizens affected by road accidents.
The law on compulsory motor third-party liability insurance came into force on January 1, 2025. However, until July 1, fines were not imposed to give drivers time to obtain policies. Later, an additional two-month transition period was granted, which ended on August 31, 2025.
“The deadlines will not be extended any longer! Starting today, fines will be imposed in full. We urge drivers to obtain CMTPL insurance policies in a timely manner and thus make a personal contribution to road safety in Kyrgyzstan,” the SSO said.
