10/17/2024, 08:27According to the National Statistics Committee, 565 thousand hectares of grain crops were harvested in Kyrgyzstan by 23 September 2023, which is 3.5% more than in the analogous period of the previous year.
Currently, 94% of the area has been harvested. The total volume of threshed grain amounted to 1.9 million tonnes. This is 37.5% more than on the same date in 2022.
The analysis showed that the harvested area of grain increased by 18.9 thousand hectares, and the volume of threshed grain - by 514.5 thousand tonnes. Productivity has also increased, with 33.4 quintals harvested per hectare, 33% more than in 2023.
Wheat in primary dressed weight increased by 52.7% and barley - by 67.5%. Oilseed harvest was up 16.2%, melons were up 17.2%, and fruit and berry harvest was up 29.1%. The harvest of maize increased by 1.9% and grain legumes by 3.2%.
Nevertheless, this year there was a decrease in some crops: tobacco - by 21.9%, cotton - by 25.9%, rice - by 1.4% and potatoes - by 0.3%. The decrease in yields was due to a 42% reduction in the area sown for tobacco, 26.9% for cotton and 8.4% for potatoes, compared to 2022.
