10/21/2026, 16:47Kyrgyzstan is to begin preparing the infrastructure for the development of nuclear energy. President Sadyr Zaparov announced this on 21 October at a national meeting on the country’s socio-economic development.
“To achieve a stable energy supply and reduce our carbon footprint, we will begin preparing the infrastructure necessary for the development of nuclear energy,” said the head of state.
According to the President, this work is aimed at reducing the country’s dependence on external risks and ensuring an uninterrupted supply of energy and fuel.
“Amid geo-economic tensions, our main objective is to minimise the country’s dependence on external risks as much as possible and to guarantee an uninterrupted supply of energy and fuel,” noted Sadyr Zhaparov.
The President did not specify where or when a nuclear facility might be built, how much it would cost, or how it would be funded.
