Fewer women working in small businesses in Kyrgyzstan

In 2024, the proportion of women employed in small businesses in Kyrgyzstan decreased in almost all economic activities compared to 2020. These data were published by the National Statistical Committee.

At the same time, the highest proportion of men in small businesses was recorded in financial intermediation and insurance — 98.5%, in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles — 95%, professional, scientific and technical activities — 94.3%, and administrative and support activities — 94.3%.

Many men also work in information and communications (94.2%), transport and storage (93.5%), construction (91.7%), and mining (91.3%). This reflects the general trend: small enterprises remain predominantly male-dominated.
